Bring Up The Lights CampaignAs we emerge from the pandemic, the BSPAC board has the goal of continuing to be the venue where on-stage entertainment and education in the performing arts occurs in Borrego Springs. As we begin to plan for future performances, we are also focusing on the replacement of our 40-year old stage lighting system.
A viable and active performing arts center is one of the factors that makes Borrego Springs a wonderful place to visit and to live in. Please consider an initial or added donation to our cause. Information about donation may be reached by clicking on the 'Support BSPAC' link above. |
COMMENTS FROM OUR USERS
George Keith, Artistic Director, Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center
“ As we consider improving some of the aspects of BSPAC, I have been thinking about the importance of lighting as it applies to a film, musical, or play. Awards are given for “Best Lighting” because lighting is recognized as a significant part of any production. Stage lighting communicates in a subtle manner, but its effects can be transformative. It can take an ordinary production and make it ‘shine’ with appeal”
Jimmy Smith, The Outrageous Front Porch Revue, annual fundraiser
for the Anza Borrego Foundation “A town will rise no higher than the level of its arts, and the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center is where that happens”
Anne Wesley and Mary Anne Luty, performers in the
2020 productions of ‘Twelve Angry Jurors’ “Our first thespian experience brought so much more than we expected. Since we had never done theater we didn’t know what to expect. We had no idea of the challenges we would face or the rewards we would gain. We got so much more than we bargained for. Fun, friendships, and the elusive promise of fame. What more could we have asked for?”
Fred Jee, Executive Director, the Borrego Springs Film Festival
“New equipment is need to give this theater an exciting long term future. The Borrego Springs Film Festival depends on our community theater for a world-class venue and a quality experience that showcases film makers talents, entertains audiences young and old, and brings outside visitors to Borrego Springs which is an important part of our local economy”.
Betsy Knakk Executive Director, Anza-Borrego
Natural History Association “The Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center has been the venue for the ABDNHA Desert Lecture Series for more than 20 years, providing an up-to-date setting for our expert speakers, many of whom come from out of town, and for our attendees, which greatly contributes to the success of the Desert Lecture Series”
Virginia Perrin, President, Community Concert Association
“The Community Concert Association has held our concerts at BSPAC since the early 90’s. We are fortunate to have this venue in our small community and appreciate the commitment of the board to maintain and improve the facility.”
Danielle Del Bono, long time student of the dance program
and a former Miss Borrego “The Performing Arts Center dance program has been amazing for me. Because of this program I found my passion for ballet dancing. I was a student of dance from second grade until I graduated from high school. I am so grateful that I could be a part of this awesome program and hope I can come back from college and dance with everyone again”
Ben Nourse, Co-Owner, Borrego Outfitters
“Not only does BSPAC contribute to Borrego’s cultural community and provide a meaningful activity for its many enthusiastic participants, but it also is a great asset for visitors to our community. We are lucky to have such a vibrant organization here”
Tai, a current student of dance
Learning different forms of dance has been awesome. My favorite thing is dress rehearsal when we get to wear our costumes”
